General Rules
In registering on this site and submitting a character application, you indicate that you agree to these rules.
Current members will be notified of any rule changes.
1. NO ridicule, taunting, or rudeness of any kind directed toward ANYONE for their age, gender, race, etc will be tolerated. Be respectful to all administrators, members, and guests.
2. You may not begin to post or role play unless you have been accepted. This INCLUDES the C-box. The staff reserves the right to deny any application without explanation if needed. We also reserve the right to sort members to whichever house we see fit in order to balance the population.
3. Posts may be rated no higher than PG-13, in compliance with the Proboards TOS and Community Guidelines. Threads that roleplay sexual encounters, drug use, excessive violence, or any other illegal activity are not permitted on the forum, cbox, or in private messages. We have a no-tolerance policy regarding this. If you break this rule, your account will be removed. If you're concerned about this, I suggest you read BOTH of the links above.
This means we have a "fade-to-black" policy. If your characters are engaging in questionable activity, you may not play it out but you may suggest that it took place in a non-explicit, non-rule-violating way.
We know this may be "lame," but it is the only way we can guarantee that underage persons are not being harmed in any way, and that we are in compliance with Proboards rules.
4. The preferred posting style is third person narrative.
5. All players are required to participate in bi-weekly activity checks, in which links to 2 recent, active threads MUST be provided.
6. The required minimum for In-Character posts is 450 words. A word counter is provided for you. Please bold your character's hair color in your application.
7. All players are required to use complete sentences, appropriate grammar, and correct spelling when posting in-character.
8. Absolutely no godmoding.
9. This site strives to be as canon as possible while still allowing room for creativity. All things stand true as they were written by J.K. Rowling by the end of the 7th book - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. All supplementary Rowling texts, such as The Tales of Beedle the Bard, Quidditch Through the Ages, and Fantastic Beasts are also relevant. Harry Potter films are not considered canon. You must be familiar with the information in the books.
10. GRAPHICS: May contain NO profanity, nudity, or be of an explicit nature. Signature images cannot be over 500x250 and avatars no bigger than 100x100. Staff members reserve the right to remove any graphics we deem inappropriate.
